All About Adult Ballet Classes at Alberta Ballet School

You’re never too old to dance! Alberta Ballet School is proud to be the best ballet academy in the world – not only for young dancers but also for individuals 16 years of age and older who have never donned a pair of ballet shoes before or those who are no stranger to the stage. Regardless of your skill level, we have an adult ballet class for you. Discover the possibilities!

Beginner
Have you always dreamed of being a ballerina? Perhaps your little dancer has inspired you to discover dance. Our adult beginner class is a perfect introduction to the world of ballet. Geared toward adults who are new to dance or have limited ballet training, this class will teach you ballet fundamentals including posture and positions.

Ballet 1
Looking to dust off your ballet shoes? If you’re an adult with one to two years of ballet training and you have a moderate understanding of basic technique and vocabulary, our Ballet 1 class is for you. This class features simple combinations that focus on the foundations of technique and foster a love of dance.

Ballet 2
If you have previously danced for at least three to four years, consider signing up for Ballet 2. This class emphasizes technique, strength, and alignment, and features more complex movement phrases that challenge not only your body, but your mind.

Ballet 3/4
Ballet 3/4 is our most advanced adult ballet class. Designed for dancers with at least five years of training, this challenging, fast-paced class features longer, more complex phrases and exercises. Dancers are expected to have an intermediate level of technique and vocabulary knowledge. A strong emphasis will be placed on refining form.

Ballet Barre Fitness (currently offered in Edmonton only)
Meet us at the barre! This popular class, which is based on core barre ballet principles, uses the barre to help strengthen and lengthen muscles, improve posture, and increase flexibility. No experience is necessary for our barre fitness classes.
