4 Reasons Winter is the Best Season to Learn Ballet

With the days becoming shorter and shorter, we know that winter is right around the corner. The winter season can be a long one when you are in Calgary or Edmonton, which is why it is the perfect time to take the leap and sign up for your adult ballet class!

Our team knows there are 10 key benefits built through our adult dance classes. And now, more than ever, it has become important to take care of your physical and mental health. Because of this, Alberta Ballet School believes winter is the best season for an adult to learn ballet; here is why:

  1. Maintaining Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing

The winter blues are real – as the weather gets colder in Calgary and Edmonton, you can find yourself cooped up at home and developing signs of seasonal depression. Getting outside for a walk or a hike is harder – so you need to find different ways to keep your body and your mind sharp.

One of the many advantages of a ballet class is that it is indoors – and active. At the Alberta Ballet School, we are ensuring the safety of our staff and students with COVID-19 cleaning protocols and physical distancing practices in place.

  1. A Sense of Community

The winter months can feel lonely at the best of times, but these days it can be easy to miss interacting with other people.

Our ballet studios in Calgary and Edmonton are great places to keep up your human connections and connect with like-minded people working towards their ballet goals. Dancing brings people together – and our instructors strive to build a sense of comfort and community in dance classes.

  1. No Need to go Outside

As mentioned, one of the great advantages of a ballet class is that it is inside! Your only time outside will be getting to the studio and once you are in, we promise that it will be nice, warm, and dry!

Again, if you plan on attending your ballet classes in Calgary or in Edmonton, Alberta Ballet School is ensuring the safety of our staff and students with COVID-19 cleaning protocols. Physical distancing practices are in place in both dance studios.

  1. Winter Retail Therapy

Trying out something new means looking the part. A new season of dance means an opportunity to buy new dance wear! Be sure to layer up to keep you warm if you are coming and going from the studio. Check out what our partner retailer City Dancewear has in stock for a dance wardrobe refresh or to outfit yourself for the first time.

Remember that your ballet class and Alberta Ballet School can help you through the dark winter months. Your body, brain, and emotional well-being will thank you!
